Some of my best flying days when I hangared over at Lansing Municipal airport (KIGQ) were in the dead of Winter.

I came up with all sorts of crazy, and not so crazy, clothing and equipment combinations to keep me warm when doing a few laps around the pattern when the temps were below zero.

Top on my list was a full face mask helmet, of course.

But even then, the stinging pain of 60MPH wind hitting my bare chin, neck and mouth were too much to handle, so a balaclava became part of my regime.

Now that we’re getting into those lower temps, how many of you are going to keep on flying through the winter?

If so, what kind of gear do you use to keep yourself from frostbite?
