This mountain captures the spirit of New Mexico like no other.

On the first day of a trip up to Colorado, Paul and I flew up to ShipRock Peak, in the 4 Corners area of New Mexico. We followed the 6 mile long spine from the south, then circled the peak test for thermals and strong winds. Finding none,…[Read more]

    2) chock the wheels so the slack on the tie downs can’t change.
    3) tie down ropes from the leading edge/ cross tube junction. I coil up the ropes behind the zipper panel and leave them there always. Attach to tiedown points below. Get…[Read more]

From the pictures it looks like the tie down method is sorta what I envisioned doing but I run my webbing to point inside the Trike so I can still steer it. Wasn’t sure how the method would work so it’s nice to see someone actually doing it for real. I was thinking of flying up to Marble Canyon but thought I might have to sleep by the Trike sin…[Read more]

Day 2 of my Grand Canyon Trip. Marble, AZ to Bar10 Ranch
It ended up being a 4.8 hour flight, starting out with a cruise up the Colorado River, below the rim towards the Glen Canyon Dan, then over the Paria River, back to Marble Canyon and a zig-zag flight over the Grand Canyon via…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing Mark. A very interesting read. Amazing to know how a relatively rigorous investigation on the phenomenon was conducted almost 2 decades ago. IMO this it is worthwhile for trike pilots to learn or refresh their memories on this some what unique peculiarity of WSC.
